Share large files
with complete security and anonymity

Every file is encrypted with AES-256 directly on your device before it is uploaded. The key exists only in the link you share, so not even the people operating MegaFile can read your files. No account, no registration: simply choose how long to retain them.

REAL SECURITY

What secure file sharing really means

Protecting a file means encrypting it before it leaves the device and keeping the key away from the servers.

01

Encryption takes place before upload

Many sharing services promise security, but often limit themselves to encrypting data "in transit", leaving it readable once it reaches their servers. MegaFile takes a different approach: the file is encrypted with AES-256 directly on your device before the upload even begins. The key required to decrypt it is never transmitted or stored on our systems; it exists only inside the link that you generate and share.

02

No account and full control over sharing

This is accompanied by another change in approach: MegaFile no longer requires an account or any form of registration. Anyone can upload, protect with an optional password and share a file in a few seconds, simply choosing how long it should remain online — from a minimum of 3 days to a maximum of 6 months — and accepting only the service Terms of Use.

WHY IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Security is not optional

Genuine encryption

Every file is protected with AES-256 directly on your device before upload, so data never travels across the network in plain text.

Private, protected links

Every link is unique and not indexed. You can add a password: only someone with the link has the key required to decrypt the file.

Duration under your control

You choose how long the file remains available at the time of upload: 3, 7 or 14 days, or 1, 3 or 6 months. No account required.

COMPARISON

MegaFile vs email attachments and
generic cloud links

How MegaFile compares with email attachments and sharing links from a generic cloud service.

Feature MegaFileRecommended Email attachments Generic cloud link
Registration Never required An email account is required A cloud account is required
Size limit No predefined limit* Usually 25 MB (provider limit) Variable, depending on plan storage
Encryption Client-side AES-256 — key only in the link Depends on the provider, often only in transit In transit and at rest (according to policy)
Duration and control You choose: 3 days → 6 months No control after sending Depends on the sharing settings

* MegaFile does not impose a predefined file-size limit, subject to the fair-use policy and technical network limits.

PROCESS

How it works

1

Drag and drop the file

Drag the file into the upload area or select it from your device. No account required.

2

Choose duration and password

Set an optional password and choose how long the file should remain available.

3

Share the link

The file is encrypted locally with AES-256. Only someone who receives the link has the key required to decrypt it.

Why is encryption "in transit" alone not enough?

Many services encrypt data only during transfer (HTTPS), but then store it in plain text on their servers. MegaFile encrypts the file directly on your device, so what reaches our systems is already unusable without the key, which we do not possess.

How is the key generated and where does it "live"?

The decryption key is generated when the file is encrypted and placed exclusively in the link you receive. It is neither transmitted to nor stored on our servers, so anyone without the link has no way to recover the key.

What happens if I choose an additional password?

The password adds another layer of protection: even someone who intercepted the link could not download the file without knowing it. We recommend sharing the password through a different channel from the one used for the link.

Everything you want to know

MegaFile encrypts every file with AES-256 directly on your device before the upload even begins. The decryption key is never stored on the servers; it remains only in the link you share. This means that data never travels across the network in plain text and not even the people operating MegaFile can open your files.

No. MegaFile requires neither an account nor registration: the entire service is designed for completely anonymous use. The only requirements are to accept the Terms of Use and choose how long the file should remain available, from 3 days to 6 months.

Every file generates a unique link that is not publicly indexed and contains the key required to decrypt it. You can add a custom password at the time of upload for an additional layer of protection.

You decide at the time of upload: 3, 7 or 14 days, or 1, 3 or 6 months. When the selected period expires, the file is automatically deleted from our servers and the link is no longer valid.

Email has attachment-size limits and offers no control after sending. With MegaFile, the file is encrypted with AES-256 and shared through a secure link with an automatic expiry date that you choose at the time of upload.

MegaFile is designed in accordance with the GDPR and European data-protection rules: it requires no registration and does not profile or track users. Content is encrypted client-side and you always decide the retention period directly at the time of upload.

Yes. MegaFile is compatible with smartphones and tablets. You can upload files, set an optional password and choose the retention period directly from your browser, without installing a dedicated application.

Unlike Google Drive or WeTransfer, MegaFile requires no account, encrypts every file client-side during upload and does not store the decryption key on its servers. The generated links are not public, providing more private sharing that remains fully under your control.
